Kexts won’t unload if they are in use. A good tool to macinotsh with before anything else is CoolTerm easy to find However, this type of kernel extension is loaded and unloaded dynamically by the operating system when devices are plugged and unplugged that need the driver.
So when you run the installer as I described above it basically just puts that file on your computer and tries to load it.
